On December 17, 2016, the opening ceremony of the US Center for Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is held in Maryland, marking the official establishment of the first Chinese medicine center in the US that performs multiple functions including TCM education, medical service, research and cultural exchange. The center aims to become a platform for cooperation in clinical service, education and research of Chinese medicine and Western medicine between China and the United States. It also serves as a platform of cooperation between American and Chinese medical institutions and universities, providing opportunities for TCM clinical research in terms of difficult diseases and efficacies of TCM therapies as well as cultural and educational exchanges.
